Preschool Programs

Advanced Pre-school Gymnastics

    For youngsters 4 and up, this class is for young capable gymnasts with prior experience in all the basics.  Handstands, bridges and cartwheels are introduced.  Class size is limited.

 

Ballet & Gymnastics

    Ballet basics and gymnastics obstacles, rolls and games are all included in this wonderful program.  For ages 3 1/2 - 4 1/2.

    

Beginner Ballet 

    Students ages 3 - 5 years will learn the basics of ballet through barre and centre floor work including body positions, jumps and turns.

 

Just Me

   For youngsters ages 3-4 years.  A movement class for those ready to leave Mom or Dad and follow directions on their own.  Includes gymnastics and skill lessons with related songs.  Improves motor skills, stimulates language and social development.  Children in Child Watch during these time periods can be picked up by the instructor in order to participate in these classes. Class size is limited.

 

Little Lotus Yoga

   For ages 3-11.  Children are very receptive to the benefits of Yoga!  They will become happier, healthier, even better students.  Class begins with 15 minutes of monitored free play, then asana and games will continue for the remainder of the hour.  Children will learn about nutrition and making better food choices.  They will learn how to tap into and appreciate their physical abilities, enhancing self esteem, and body image.  Yoga can bring out the very best in your child!

 

Little Me Yoga

   Designed to bring fitness and balance to new Moms as they bond with their infant or toddler.  Moms gain flexibility and serenity through poses and breath work as well as gaining strength and tone in abdominals, legs and buttocks.  Moms will learn how to relax their overworked necks and shoulders.  Age appropriate exercises stimulate your baby's basic motor skills, vision and coordination.  For ages 9-36 months.

 

Mommy & Me

       A selection of exercises for parent and child ages 18 - 36 months to explore together.  Lessons include simple gymnastics skills, games and exploring obstacle courses.  Improves motor skills, stimulates language and social development.  Class size is limited.

 

Petite Jazz

   Students ages 4 & 5 years will learn the basic jazz terminology and some basic jazz dance combinations.  Students will learn a proper warm-up, chasses, chaine turns, jazz walks, jazz squares, and some leaps.

 

Pre-school Gymnastics

    For youngsters ages 3 1/2 - 4 1/2, basic tumbling, beam and vault exercises.  Creative movement games to stimulate cognitive and motor skills using balls, bean bags, hoops, and balloons.  Class size is limited.

 

 

 

YMCA Youth Programs

 

Advanced Charm School

   For returning charm school students.  Content continues for the previous curriculum.  Fall II Only.

 

Boy's Gymnastics

   For boys ages 6-9 years.  Development of basic skills such as advanced tumbling, vaulting, bars and balance beam.  Improve strength, flexibility, spatial awareness and confidence.

 

“Charm School”

    New program content for 2007.  Like Charm Schools of the past, this four week program for girls ages 8 - 12 years will offer lessons in etiquette, grooming and fashion.  The course will highlight friendships, personality, posture, exercise and healthy eating habits, the arts and modeling techniques.  A graduation ceremony will be held at the end of the course.  Instructed by a former model and charm school director.

 

Cheer and Stunt

    With an experienced instructor, these young cheerleaders will focus on cheers, jumps and basic stunts.  For youngsters ages 6 - 10 years.

 

Fit Club

   This new program is created by an experienced instructor.  Class is designed for youngsters ages 9-13 who want to learn to get in shape.  This exciting class will include games and exercises including traditional toning with tubes, weights, resistance training, cardio including agility drills, sprints and traditional cardio training.  A great way to get kids together and moving.  Free to YMCA Members only.

 

Fit & Fun Family

   A special time for children ages 6 - 13 to work out with a parent!  This workout includes fun cardio exercises, games and strengthening activities.  A great way to get the family exercising together.

 

Intermediate Gymnastics

    Something special for the more experienced gymnast ages 5 - 7 1/2.  Perfect your skills:  One arm cartwheels, handstands and back walkovers.  Learn a front and back handspring!  Combinations also taught. Develops strength and flexibility. 

 

Kindernastics

    Tumbling skills, handstands and backbends, front and back walkovers and handsprings will be introduced.  Improve strength and flexibility through creative exercise.  A routine will be taught on the beam and skill work done on the bars.  YMCA School Age Child Care kindergarten youngsters may participate in this class.

 

Little Lotus Yoga

   A class for ages 3-11 years.  All children can benefit from Yoga!  See description above for complete class information.

 

Rollers

    A gymnastics class for boys and girls ages 6 - 10 years to develop basic skills such as tumbling, vaulting and balance beam.  Exercises will be incorporated to improve strength and flexibility.

 

Scrapbooking

   A great new class for friends and family, young and old to get together and scrapbook together.  Bring your pictures, papers and scissors and put your memories together!  All ages welcome!

 

Youth Basketball

   For youngsters 5-10 years of age.  Youngsters will practice skills and play games on teams.  Fall II Only.

 

Youth Rollerskating

    For youngsters ages 5 -12. Bring your skates and your favorite music to the YMCA! 

 

Youth Tang Soo Do (Karate)

    The 2000 year old traditional Korean martial art emphasizes self-defense, discipline, endurance and spirit. Affiliated with Tang Soo Karate Academy and the International Tang Soo Do Organization. Uniform purchase through instructor required by the second week. Ages 7-12.

 

 

 

 

 

 Teen Programs

 

Fit Club

F. I.T. (Fitness Instruction for Teens)

    Supervised workout time in our Fitness centers for youth ages 11 - 13 years.  Youngsters will learn safe, proper workout techniques.

 

 

WOW Me!  (Work Out With Me!)

    Supervised workout time for youth ages 11-13 and at least one parent.

 

Healthy Kids

      It's time to get moving!  Join in the FUN in our new Youth Wellness Center circuit training and exercising on a treadmill.  For youngsters 9-13 who want to get in shape.  This is a fun way to a healthier lifestyle!

 

Teen Cycling

    For ages 10-13.  Must be at least 4' 11" tall.  Have an adventure and enjoy a great workout!
